HUGO TO BAM: ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY?

There’s a special kind of warm and fuzzy feeling one gets in knowing that countries once disposed to hating the United States are now offering little tidbits of constructive advice on how the current financial crisis – the global recession, if you will – should be handled.

With Cowboy W long gone – and jealousies clearly rampant among world leaders hoping to score their own free 25 DVD set from President Obama – an era of greater understanding may be at hand.

Take Venezuela’s good-time man at the top, Hugo Chavez.

While he certainly didn’t have much use for our last president, he appears to be a touch more accommodating this time around – willing to extend handy tips on recession busting to his new neighbor to the North.

Perhaps this is Chavez’s way of saying hello, or the equivalent of letting Obama borrow a hammer.

According to a story on the Drudge Report, Chavez has the answer on how to end to the recession – one that President Obama had better follow.

Good old-fashioned x-Marx-the spot Socialism!

From Drudge:

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday called upon US President Barack Obama to follow the path to socialism, which he termed as the “only” way out of the global recession. “Come with us, align yourself, come with us on the road to socialism. This is the only path. Imagine a socialist revolution in the United States,” Chavez told a group of workers in the southern Venezuelan state of Bolivar.

The controversial Venezuelan leader, who taunted the United States as a source of capitalistic evil under former president George W Bush, added that the United States needs a leader who can take it to a “higher” destiny and bring it out of “the sad role that it has been given, as a murderous, attacking power that is hated all around the world.”

“That murderous, genocidal empire has to end, and some day there has to come a leader … who interprets the best of a people who also include human beings who suffer, endure, weep and laugh,” the outspoken Chavez said.

Don’t worry, Hugo.

Be patient.

In Chavez’s defense he has never attempted to disguise the fact that he’s always been a socialist. Unlike Obama Chavez actually served his country with distinction as a Venezuelan army officer and was imprisoned for several years for his part in a socialist coup.

Unlike Obama Chavez refused to associate with terrorist groups who blew up civilians and police officers to further a political agenda. Unlike Obama’s tenure in the Chicago Annenberg Challenge Chavez never attempted to undermine the educational system of his country to indoctrinate innocent children.

Ultimately Chavez never had to mislead or misdirect people about himself or his intentions and he never had the unconditional support of a craven media apparatus who was dedicated to eroding the very foundations of his country’s character.

Although Chavez is the worst totalitarian thug on the western hemisphere any comparison of Chavez to Obama is hugely unfair… it’s hugely unfair to Hugo Chavez.
